What is Success?
Ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng success? Madami na kong nabasang mga sulatin tungkol sa success. may kanya kanyang interpretasyon ng success..
me seryoso, me madamdamin, me pampagana, me pang hikayat at meron din namang nakakatawa.. ( kapag nairaos mo ang pag ebak mo.. di ba madalas sinasabi natin.. successss.. )
Some of them are;
“Success is the completion of anything intended.”
“Success is making loads of money.”
“Fulfilling your potential”
“Making others jealous”
Etc etc etc.. ( it will be a long list if I put them all )
But for me.. success is a stage per stage thing in our life.. Sometimes it is even a day to day thing..
it doesn’t mean natapos mo na ang stage 3 e tapos na rin pag pupunyagi mo para maging successful. its a continuous process till the finish line ( death )
but it does not mean as well na kapag di ka naging successful sa stage 1 e di ka na pedeng maging successful sa susunod na stages.
Let me fist define the stages of life (generalized ko lang )
1. pre school at elementary
2. highshool n college
3. work & married & parent
4. sunset of your life
0 – 12 is define as pre school. dyan pa lang, pede ka ng maging successful. makalakad ka lang, makapag salita, maging honor sa school.. dyan pa lang success na.. ( but this is not yours to take.. this success belongs to your parents.. )
highschool & college.. ( this is the your stage. dito mo hinahanap ang sarili mo at dito rin nahuhubog kung san ka papunta.. ) some say successful sila kasi honor students sila, yeah some go up but i have seen many people na hindi ginagamit ang pinag aralan. ( tambay sa kanto, naka buro sa bahay ) and the like..
work , married & parent = mid 20s – 50’s or so
you start to venture yourself into the real world. dito mo na makikita ang kaibahan ng pagiging estudyante at isang mang gagawa. regrets also can come here.. ( sana nag aral ako noong me chance na.. sana.. sana.. sana )
Dito rin nahuhubog ung tinatawag na budgeting.. ( sahod mo 15/30.. you have to budget it otherwise, wala ka ng pera on the 10th – 12th day ( after sahod ) so 3 days kang di kakain.. ( yeah yeah. ako din, naranasan ko to.. kaya nga natatawa ako e. hahaha )
you tend to want to be the best among your colleague. Gusto mong maging bisor or manager. ( kasi sila pabasa basa ng dyaryo, alas 10 na kung dumating, uuwi alas 3 )
Halos magpakabayani ka sa trabaho para lang mapansin ka. Napapabayaan ang mga anak, asawa dahil sa pag o overtime na wala namang bayad.
But in the end, you will be judge / evaluate base sa quality ng trabaho mo, hindi sa dami ng ini ot y mo.
But the funny thing, kapag andun ka na sa level na yun ( manager man or bisor ) mas gugustuhin mo pang maging clerk ulit dahil ang hirap palang maging manager ( pinas ) kapag me problema, kahit anong oras, ikaw ang tatawagan, kahit anong mali ng mga tao sa baba mo, ikaw ang may kasalanan.. it’s a huge responsibility.
Most of the time, madami ang nalalasing sa pag angat ( successful daw sila e ) they tend to stop fighting or showing what they really got. Dyan na papasok ang mga gastos ( pasyal dito pasyal don, gastos dito, gastos doon, living life ika nga nila. Bat hindi ka nga naman mag e enjoy e pinag paguran mo naman ito.
Then failure comes. Nalugi ang negosyo or natangal sa trabaho, for whatever reason, yun na, for sure bubulusok ka pababa sa kung saan ka nagsimula…
Andyan na masisira ang pamilya, ang ulo hanggang sa pulutin ka na lang sa kangkungan..
Or di kaya hirap na hirap ka sa buhay at lagi mong iniisip ang nakaraan, dati ganito, dati ganyan..
( if you have watch the film Music & Lyrics, im sure, you know this line.. )
For years I’ve been telling myself the same old stories, That I was happy to live off my so-called former glories..
( it’s a line from the song he sang at the end of the movie )
Dito rin pumapasok ang parenting stage. Ikakasal ka, magkaka anak, magiging malusog at matalino mga anak mo, me bahay, me kotse, me magandang trabaho, ( this is the typical gauge of success for most of us )
But along the way, problems and trials will come and if you don’t know how to handle this kind of situations, lahat ng narating o naabot mo.. maba balewala..
Alak, Babae Sugal.. ( abs ) hahaha ( sample lang )
Bago ako nag abroad, bilib na bilib ako sa isang kababayan ko ( from pampanga on how he had achieved. Malaking bahay, maraming kotse, me gasolinahan …
Sikat sya sa sabong, kahit san sya magpuntang sabong, kilala sya VIP ika nga. At kapag vip ka, andun ka sa balcony, front seat ka pa ( just for you to understand what I am talking especially dun sa mga di nakaka alam ng sabong )
Walang tutok ( kapag me kulang sa pusta, sa kanya ibinibigay, at hindi lang basta basta halaga.. libo libo ) na hindi nya nilalarga..
Pero nitong pag uwi ko.. napadaan ako sa sabungan ( nag sabong na rin ) to my surprise.. ( he was there again in the balcony ) ng tutukan sya ng 5K, sumenyas sya ng wala.. ( shaking the palm left to right )
The sad part is.. sinabihan sya ng parang organizer ng sabong na kung wala ka ng pera, bumaba ka na dyan.. He was humiliated publicly.
Then I ask my friend why and how is that possible; a multi millionaire person be broke in just 4 years..
The reason.. CASINO..
1 more.. hindi na kong lalayo.. pinsan ko na lang.. 15 years ago, we had a reunion. Sya lahat ang taya.. me bahay, me kotse, me hacienda, me manukan ( panabong ) me swimming pool.. magaganda at matatalino ang mga anak.. achievers ika nga..
Suma total, nasa kanya na ang buhay na hinahangad ng marami..
After 10 years, I was surprise to see him driving.. not a car but a public bus.. yup.. driver na lang sya ng bus sa metro manila..
What happened? CASINO..
Nalasing sila sa ginhawang dala ng success. Problem, pag gising nila.. wala na pala lahat.. naglahong parang bula..
The last stage is the sunset of your life.. dito na papasok ang mga me edad na..
I have read this article about old people. One guy has interviewed 100 old people, the question, what is your feeling right now??
Majority answered sad, even regretful.. sana nagawa ko to, sana ito ang ginawa ko.. sana sana sana sana..
Ano nga ba ang success…
It’s a process of overcoming even the smallest things in your life. You may fail today, but you still have tomorrow to fulfill it..
There will be pain and sufferings ( that’s life ), but if you endure and conquer all of it, you will become successful.
On the other hand.. You may be called successful today, but if you’re not careful, everything will vanish…
Life is a never ending journey… Welcome failures. Live with it , Stand for it and be successful..
Lastly, just want to share best meaning of success that I have ever encountered..
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; and made a difference in everyone..
